When your immune system is on point, it’s a lifesaver. But as good as it may be, it’s not perfect. Sometimes, this group of special cells, tissues, and organs don’t act the way it should.
On the whole, your immune system does a remarkable job of defending you against disease-causing microorganisms. But when it fails: A germ invades successfully and makes you sick. In fact, vitamin D deficiency is associated with increased frequency of infection as well as an autoimmune disease.
