Immune system and its connection with tonsils

When your immune system is on point, it’s a lifesaver. But as good as it may be, it’s not perfect. Sometimes, this group of special cells, tissues, and organs don’t act the way it should.

On the whole, your immune system does a remarkable job of defending you against disease-causing microorganisms. But when it fails: A germ invades successfully and makes you sick. That’s why you may get a condition like allergies, fatigue, mild fever, repeated infections , unexplained weight change, headaches, trouble swallowing or sore throat.

At least 80 illnesses are caused by immune system problems. And one of the first organs that suffered from the immune disorders are tonsils.

According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology, these bumps on the back of the throat are the “first line of defence as part of the immune system.” For example, tonsils sample bacteria and viruses entering the body through the mouth or nose and flush them using lymph.

A decrease of the immunity can cause tonsils’ inflammation,сalled tonsilitis. A sore throat is the most common of all tonsillitis symptoms. You may also have a cough, high temperature (fever), headache, feel sick and tired, find swallowing painful, and have swollen neck glands. The tonsils may swell and become red. Pus may appear as white spots on the tonsils. As a result – you have to spend a lot of time and money to feel better. But what if all this can be avoided? What if we can improve our immune system, especially——–? What if we make lifestyle changes and take certain vitamins to help the body in producing a near-perfect immune response?

  • One of the best ways to prevent tonsil stones from forming and to improve the immune system is to practice good oral hygiene including tonsils lavage. That means you should brush your teeth regularly, as well as rinse well, especially after a meal. You should also be vigilant about flossing and brush your tongue — all these steps help reduce the number of bacteria in your mouth, which is a factor that can lead to tonsil stones.
  • Eat a healthy diet: Proper nutrition is essential for your immune system to work well. A diet high in empty calories not only leads to weight gain, but it can leave you more prone to infections. Plus, being overweight is associated with a number of health problems that can also drag your immune system down.
  • Get enough sleep: Regular bouts with insomnia may not only leave you feeling fatigued during the day, but also leave you vulnerable to illnesses, including colds, flu, and other infections.
  • Immune cells are favourably affected by vitamin D levels, and natural sunlight is the best source of natural vitamin D. In fact, vitamin D deficiency is associated with increased frequency of infection as well as an autoimmune disease. Take Vitamin D supplements daily if you suffer from chronic infections, get sick frequently, or are feeling run down.

For both men and women, taking stock of the health of your immune system on a regular basis is not only going to keep you from getting sick, but it will help you age more gracefully, look better, and prevent the development of diseases down the line.
