Dr. Volodymyr KOVALCHUK

Dr. Kovalchuk graduated with distinction from the Bogomolets National Medical University in 2009 and soon after completed his residency and clinical fellowship in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. As a student, Dr. Kovalchuk took part in international clinical exchange programs in Finland, Denmark, and Italy. In 2008 he was awarded with the Mykola Amosov scholarship for the best research work in Clinical Medicine among Ukrainian students.

Dr. Kovalchuk is an active and recognized member of the AO Foundation (Association for the Study of Internal Fixation). He has completed AO Trauma Fellowships in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, USA, in 2012, and in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Traumatology in Wilhelminen Hospital of Vienna, Austria, in 2013. In 2015 he completed a Fellowship in Advanced Shoulder and Elbow Surgery in Ghent University (Ghent, Belgium).

At present, Dr. Kovalchuk works as an Orthopedic Trauma and Sports Medicine Physician, overseeing national and international professional athletes and patients with sports injuries and complex trauma. Dr. Kovalchuk is specialized in sport traumatology; treatment of complex fractures; advanced shoulder, elbow, hip and knee surgery; adult reconstruction and joint preservation surgery.

Dr. Kovalchuk regularly participates in Continuing Medical Education courses in Europe and the USA and is the author of more than 30 scientific articles. The results of his scientific work are being regularly presented at international meetings across Europe. In 2017, Dr. Kovalchuk submitted his Ph.D. Thesis. He is seeing patients by appointment and speaks English, Ukrainian and Russian fluently.

How does it work?

  • Call your local AMC and consult with one of our physicians. The care provider will determine which diagnostic fits best for you – COVID-19 PCR or Antibody testing.
  • Request an appointment for COVID-19 testing either in clinic or at your place.
  • Results for PCR testing may take up to 24 hours to process while results for Antibody testing are ready within 15 minutes.

How PCR and Antibody Testing differ from each other?

  • The PCR test takes a swab from the back of the nose and throat and looks for the presence of the virus itself.
  • The Antibody testing looks at a blood sample for antibodies generated in the body in response to the virus, showing whether or not the person tested has been exposed to it in the past.
